This weekend I decided to have a really relaxing and productive weekend. Since I’m going to go to Amsterdam in December for 3 months, I’m really motivated to build up my online passive income and am working hard at building sites and promoting them.
After working for a good few hours straight without interruptions, I took a break by watching The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. (I have the Fast and Furious complete collection and have seen them many many times over – I love cars). The movie inspired me to write this post. Actually… it was more a line in the movie, the line was:
“That’s what life is about. You make decisions and you don’t look back”
Decisions lead to Action
That got me thinking back to a really good book I read The Way of the Superior Man by David Deida where he explains that a real man makes decisions, whether good or bad and learns from the good and the bad decisions.
Progress is made by making decisions, taking action and making better decisions. If you think about it, that is all that is holding you back from doing what you have always wanted to do … the decision. The decision to stop feeling sorry for yourself, to stop making excuses and to take action, to just go out and do it!!!
This doesn’t just apply to men, it applies to women too. It’s like when someone asks you ‘Do you want to go to the beach or to the mall today’ and you just answer with ‘I don’t mind’.
Stop! – That is not making a decision, that is allowing someone else to make a decision for you, even though you are fine with either option.
The thing with making decisions is that is is a conscious effort and can feel like ‘work’ and with decisions comes responsibility. That is where the learning process comes in. People make mistakes, it’s only natural. People who are really good at what they do have made hundreds of mistakes if not more, that is why they become so good. They make decisions, they take action, irrespective if the decision will work out bad or good.
Action leads to Feedback leads to Progress
I used to avoid making decisions, but I am improving myself and making decisions all the time now and taking action. Sure I find myself wondering ‘what if this will go wrong’, but that is the only way to learn. If you want to learn to snowboard, the only way you are going to learn is to make the decision to go out on to the slope with your snowboard and go down that hill. There is a chance you may get it right from the first time, there is a chance you may fall on your butt for 3 days straight (speaking from experience here ), but by making the decision to take action, you are making progress and on your way to achieving success.
Making decisions and taking responsibility for them puts you ahead of so many people in the world who are allowing others to make the decisions for them.
If you have read some of my other posts like …

You will see that they are all based around you taking action to change something you are not happy with in order to achieve your goal or definition of success. It means making a decision to follow your plan of action to gradually change your current situation. Slowly chipping away at it day by day, until over time you transform into the kind of person you want to be.
Progress leads to Success
So the next time you find yourself in a situation where you have a choice or someone asks you whether you prefer red or purple, don’t fall into the trap of indecisiveness. Make a decision, give an answer and take responsibility. Even if your decision is a bad one, you to learn from it, and to grow.
… Practice making decisions. Start small, but make decisions and take responsibility at every opportunity and change the things you are not happy with in your life. You will get better and better at decision making and each decision will take you a step closer to your success.
Don’t give up!
